Murang’a
Technical Training Institute (MTTI), though maiden, was able to admit its
pioneer trainees in the month of February 2021. The institute began with a bang
in spite of the challenges posed by the COVID -19 Pandemic and about 180
students enrolled for various courses in Diploma, Craft and Artisan level. The
institute boost of serene environment away from hustles and bustles of urban
settings. We at MTTI are also privileged to have many lecture rooms and
workshops with State of Art equipment. Our trainees enjoy luxury of
ultra-modern buildings and the trainers have adequate and well-furnished
offices courtesy of the Ministry of Education. MTTI is situated at the heart of
Murang’a County along the busy Murang’a-Kenol Highway and therefore it is quite
accessible and convenient to both trainees and staff. The community in the
neighborhood is very friendly and has taken advantage of the huge potential
economic benefits that will accrue as the institute grows in terms of trainees’
population. Indeed many investors have embarked on building hostels that are
now accommodating majority of our learners.
The institute is accredited by TVET Authority and last November our first ever candidates sat for the KNEC examinations and they registered great results with examinations in Hospitality Management having 100% pass in Craft module 1 in Food and Beverage course. This was indeed a great beginning and we are optimistic that going forward the institute will impact the society in a big way in terms of churning out trainees with market driven skills, knowledge, competences and attitudes for an effective Human Resource in various sectors of our economy. This will enable the country realize not only the Medium Term Goals but also the Vision 2030. We are currently training in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Building Technology and Plumbing technology, Mechanical Engineering, ICT, Food and Beverage and Business Studies. The government has not only constructed the great infrastructure of this institution but has also given the trainees a Capitation of Ksh30, 000 per year. The balance of Ksh26, 420 is paid by the students as fee for the year. For students who may not afford to pay the Ksh26, 420, the student can apply for HELB loan and may be given Ksh40, 000 per year. This implies that apart from having all the fees paid by HELB about Ksh13, 580 is also given per year as out of pocket money. We therefore encourage students and parents to enjoy this advantage while it last. We endeavor to offer world class experience in our training and also commit to give all the stakeholders a value for their money and time. Thank you.
